Recap from the second meetup of SAS User Group Germany in Berlin ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ป ๐Ÿ• ๐ŸŽ‰

Nov 30, 2018

Big thanks to everyone who came to the second meetup of SAS User Group Germany last night! We had fantastic talks and demos about various aspects of SAS Viya.

Feel the vibe of the meetup by watching a video from that evening:

Recap

Igor Khorlo opened up a meetup with an overview of activities of SAS User Group Germany. Then we continued with the public introduction which we tried the first time, and it was an exciting way to get to know each other. Paolo Vacilotto continued with the short introduction of mayato GmbH company which hosted the meetup.

Alexander Buchwald began his presentation from a short introduction to Text Mining and continued with a use case for analysing tweets using SASยฎ Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning WebApp. The demo was very visual, and Alexander analysed tweets mentioning Berlin from 26th November for topics extraction, sentiment analysis, and many other things.

The second talk was from Nicola Zรคh. He started from drawing the edge between classic SAS 9 and SAS Viya architectures. We talked about CAS engine, CAS actions and SWAT package for Python. Nicola has shown us a grading prediction demo in Jupyter Notebook where he used SWAT package for Python to talk to CAS.

That was an enjoyable session and an excellent introduction to SAS Viya from a visual prospective by Alexander and using a pure programming approach by Nicola.

Big thanks to the sponsor of this meetup โ€“ mayato GmbH who made this event possible by gladly providing us with a stylish venue and treating us with pizza and refreshments ๐Ÿ˜Š
